Mississippi Investment Petroleum has announced plans to build a third-generation biodiesel refinery at the Port of Aberdeen, Mississippi, in the US.
The Madison-based company began preparing the site in late 2008, with 90% of the US manufactured refinery equipment being custom fabricated for the site.

Indian state Gujarat’s Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has given approval to private groups for setting up biomass power plants in 25 districts of the state.
The approvals amount to a combined generation of 317MW of energy.

The US will fall short of the Renewable Fuels Standard, the government's Energy Information Administration (EIA) warns.
The country will only blend about 30 billion gallons of fuels like corn-based ethanol and advanced fuels into petrol by 2022, 17% short of the US mandate of 36 billion gallons by that year, the EIA forecasts.

Poet Biorefining - Laddonia, Missouri is undergoing a $2 million (€1.4 million) expansion that will increase the plant’s capacity and provide a larger market for locally produced corn.

Brazil’s ethanol sales for 2008 are accelerating past petrol sales for the first time, the National Petroleum Agency reports.
