Finland-based natural gas importer and retailer Gasum and bioenergy company Biovakka have agreed to partner on biogas projects.
The collaboration will bring about the production of biogas for transmission via the natural gas network for use as transport fuel.

Finland-based refiner Neste Oil has announced its S$1.2 billion (€615 million) renewable diesel plant in Singapore is set to be complete by June 2010.
Production on the 800,000 tonnes per year plant is anticipated for Q3 2010.
The NExBTL plant will use feedstock such as animal fat, palm oil and other types of vegetable oils.

Indonesia and South Korea have agreed to develop a seaweed-based biofuel in an attempt to encourage green energy in the two countries.

The US could produce enough ethanol to displace nearly a third of all petrol use by 2030, a study by New Mexico-based Sandia National Laboratories and General Motors concludes.

Sudan's first ethanol plant, state-owned Kenana Sugar Co.'s (KSC), is due to begin operations at the end of March.
Situated within the KSC complex, 250km south of Khartoum, the plant is expected to produce about 61 million litres a year of alcohol from molasses made in the country.

Texas-based Earth Biofuels has finalised funds for upgrades to its 10 mgy Oklahoma biodiesel production facility.
The transaction includes the acquisition of more than 350 storage tanks, with capacities ranging from 8,000 to 39,000 gallons.

Swedish power utility Vattenfall plans to convert its power plant facilities in Denmark to use large quantities of biomass fuel instead of coal.
Project MaxBio will replace up to 724,000 tonnes of coal a year, beginning in 2018. As a result, it will prevent at least 1.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
