Neste appoints new renewable aviation executive

Renewable fuels producer Neste has announced the appointment of Thorsten Lange as executive vice-president for renewable aviation, and member of the company’s executive committee.

Lange will join Neste in February 2020 at the latest, and will report to president and CEO Peter Vanacker. He is moving to Neste from a position with German airline Lufthansa Group.

“I am happy to have Thorsten Lange to lead our new business unit renewable aviation, and to strengthen our executive committee, which is now complete,” said Vanacker. “With this team we are able to further increase the focus on our target of becoming the global leader in renewable and circular solutions.

“Thorsten is a highly experienced aviation industry leader, and he has an outstanding knowhow on the industry, especially in fuels including sustainable aviation fuel, through his career and having served as Chair of the IATA Fuel Committee. He will work out of our Amsterdam office, which also is the hub for our renewable aviation business unit.”

Commenting on his new appointment, Lange said: “I am excited about this opportunity to join Neste’s team. Aviation industry is at the crossroads. Use of sustainable aviation fuel will play an important role in supporting the industry’s ongoing efforts in making air transportation fit for the environmental challenges it is facing. I am looking forward to working together with all industry stakeholders in order to enable sustainable growth in both aviation industry, and Neste’s renewable aviation business.”
