Renewable diesel producer Diamond Green Diesel (DGD) reported robust third-quarter operating performance, shipping nearly 315 million gallons of renewable fuels during the three months to September, according to an update released by joint venture partner Darling Ingredients.
The business, jointly owned by Darling Ingredients and Valero Energy Corporation, sold or shipped 314.9 million gallons of renewable fuels during the quarter. For the first nine months of 2026, volumes reached 936.1 million gallons, underlining the scale of demand for renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel in North America.
Operating income within the renewable diesel segment reached approximately $350 million (€314 million) during the quarter, while nine-month operating income stood at around $1.3 billion (€1.17million). Adjusted EBITDA amounted to $1.30 per gallon during the third quarter and $1.59 (€1.43 million) per gallon for the year-to-date period.
Randall C. Stuewe, chairman and chief executive of Darling Ingredients, said results had been affected by the timing of renewable diesel sales and commercial activities but added that those factors were expected to support a stronger fourth quarter.
DGD remains one of the world's largest renewable diesel producers and has expanded its capabilities to manufacture both renewable diesel and SAF using waste fats, oils and greases as feedstocks. These materials include used cooking oil and animal fats that can be converted into drop-in transport fuels with substantially lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions than conventional petroleum products.
The results provide another indication that advanced biofuels continue to enjoy strong market support despite regulatory uncertainty in some regions. Demand from freight operators, fuel distributors and aviation customers is helping sustain growth across the renewable diesel and SAF sectors, particularly in North America where low-carbon fuel incentives remain a major market driver.
