Lukoil and Meroil open terminal at Barcelona port

Lukoil has commissioned a new petroleum terminal at the port of Barcelona, Spain.

The project was made possible due to a joint venture between Spanish company, Meroil, and international oil company Litasco (a Lukoil subsidiary) that was reportedly established in July 2010.

The new terminal, which is connected to the Hydrocarbonates Logistics Company pipeline system, includes 8 petroleum-product loading gantries with a throughput capacity of 400 tank trucks per day, and thirteen new tanks ranging in volume from 6,500 to 40,000 cubic meters. It is also equipped with high-tech protection and monitoring systems and is certified for compliance with the international QHSE Management System.

The terminal will be used by Litasco to re-export and distribute diesel, biodiesel and jet fuel in Spain.
