Energy growth and confidence in India
India’s energy sector is no longer defined by anxiety but is, instead, now marked by confidence, aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) and strategic foresight. This analysis, compiled by Hardeep Singh Puri, India's Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, was issued in early June this year to applaud ‘eleven remarkable years’ of ‘transformative reforms’ carried out under the leadership of the nation’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. In June 2024, of course, India watchers were still attempting to work out how a somewhat disappointing election result might impact the third version of the Modi Government, or Modi 3.0, as Minister Singh Puri described it.
