Biofuels Organizations to intervene in API vs EPA lawsuit

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has granted motions to allow the Advanced Biofuels Association (ABFA), the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE), the Advanced Ethanol Council (AEC), the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), Growth Energy, the National Biodiesel Board and the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) to intervene and address the issues that will be raised in the case known as: American Petroleum Institute (API) versus Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The case concerns the API challenging the EPA's final rule setting the requirements for the 2012 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The group of biofuels organizations petitioned for intervener status on Friday, April 6 and will be supporting the EPA in its implementation of the requirements for 2012 RFS, including those for cellulosic biofuels volumes.

The organisations argue that the API's actions would inappropriately reduce the standards set by Congress and the EPA.
