Algae Tec confirms new facility commission

Algae into biofuels company Algae Tec has announced commissioning for a showcase biofuels facility in Nowra, Australia.

The facility, named Shoalhaven One, already has the bioreactor technology and associated racks, piping and separation tanks in place, with full testing and final validation now underway.

‘This commissioning process is on track for production of algae biomass in early June, ramping up to capacity by the month’s end,’ says Algae Tec executive chairman Roger Stroud. ‘The facility is also positioned to take a carbon dioxide feed from the Manildra Groups manufacturing facility.’

Earl McConchie, Algae Tec’s US-based technical director, is currently in Australia overseeing the commissioning team.

Algae Tec also has carbon capture biofuels projects underway in Sri Lanka and China, plus an agreement has been struck with airline Lufthansa for potential aviation fuel studies.
