Laurent Donceel has now joined ePURE, the European renewable ethanol association, as its new Secretary General.
Donceel has significant experience in the EU policy arena focused on transport and energy, most recently as Director at Hydrogen Europe.
He has also worked as acting managing director of Airlines for Europe A4E and held senior positions with public affairs consultancies.
“Europe’s renewable ethanol industry has become a vital, strategic interest for the EU, providing a pragmatic, domestic solution for energy independence, industrial autonomy and transport decarbonisation,” Donceel said. “I look forward to leading ePURE’s dedicated team as they work to help shape EU policies needed to achieve these important ambitions.”
Donceel replaces David Carpintero, who left ePURE in May after four years as head of the association.
ePURE represents 40 member companies and associations, with around 50 biorefineries across the EU and UK, accounting for about 85% of EU renewable ethanol production.
