In the US the Minnesota Department of Agriculture estimates that the state will gain $600 million (€465 million) from the growth of its ethanol industry this year.
It estimates production will increase to 1.1 billion gallons in 2010 with an economic impact of $3.1 billion, and providing 1,500 additional jobs.

The US department of energy (DoE) will pump $106 million (€82 million) from the American Recovery and Reinvestment into six projects which will convert captured carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from industrial sources into useful products such as fuel, plastics, cement, and fertilisers.

German specialty chemicals company Süd-Chemie is to build Germany´s largest second generation ethanol plant.

California, US, is expected to increase the number of E85 fuelling stations and electric vehicle charging stations after receiving a $4 million (€3.3 million) grant.

The construction of biomethanol producer BioMCN’s second generation biofuel plant has been completed and began operations on Friday 25 June.

Ethanol producer Poet has purchased its most recent facility – a 90mgy ethanol plant in the town of Cloverdale, Indiana, US.
