US ethanol industry disappointed with new Colombian duties

The Colombian Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism (MINCIT) has announced it will impose duties of $0.1997 per gallon on US ethanol exports to Colombia.
A joint statement from leadership of the US. Grains Council, Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association said they were disappointed with the implementation.
The statement said: “While we have co-operated fully with investigating authorities in Colombia to demonstrate these final duties are unjustified, the Colombian government sided with Colombia’s ethanol industry.
“MINCIT’s decision was not supported by evidence and raises questions regarding the Ministry’s compliance with standard CVD procedures.
“The US ethanol industry remains committed to our partners in Colombia, continuing to help the country meet its blending targets and providing benefits to Colombian consumers so they may access a clean, renewable and affordable fuel.”
The US Grains Council develops export markets for barley, corn, sorghum and related products including distiller’s dried grains with solubles and ethanol. The council operates programmes in more than 50 countries and the European Union.
Growth Energy represents producers and supporters of the ethanol industry to bring consumers better choices at the fuel pump, grow America’s economy and improve the environment for future generations.
The Renewable Fuels Association is the leading trade association for the US ethanol industry.
