Repsol, Toyota, BMW and Bosch launch pilot project with vehicles powered by 100% renewable petrol

Repsol, in collaboration with Toyota Motor Europe (TME), BMW Group and Bosch, has launched a pioneering six-month pilot in Spain to show in real conditions the potential of vehicles that run exclusively on renewable fuels.

The project will have a fleet of about 20 Toyota and BMW vehicles, powered by Repsol's 100% renewable Nexa 95 gasoline and supported by Bosch's digital fuel traceability technology.

This pilot will provide evidence under real-world conditions that vehicles running exclusively on renewable fuels can be deployed on a large scale, contributing to the decarbonisation of mobility in Europe through a complementary and technology-neutral approach that leaves no one behind.

Bosch's system will collect and validate refuelling data from multiple sources, including data from vehicles, filling stations, and fuel card transactions, to ensure robust and transparent traceability of the use of renewable fuels.

"With our Digital Fuel Twin system, Bosch brings complete digital transparency to the entire fuel value chain for reliable tracking and verification of renewable fuels from the moment they enter the market to their use by the end consumer. By accurately monitoring the fuel consumption of each vehicle in real time, we are laying the foundation of trust and regulatory compliance needed to drive greater acceptance of renewable fuels in the mobility and transport sectors," added Dr Marko Babic, head of Bosch product area and Bosch Digital Fuel Twin System.
