Neste opens Chinese office to support renewable diesel production

Renewable diesel producer Neste has announced the opening of a new office in Shanghai, China. The company will also begin to source renewable material in the Asian country.
“Neste is the third most sustainable company in the world and the largest producer of renewable diesel,” said Jennifer Jiang, general manager of Neste’s Shanghai office. “We are happy to open a new office in China, and start purchasing waste and residue raw materials for the production of our renewable diesel, jet fuel as well as other renewable solutions globally.”
The company intends to purchase renewable waste and residue raw materials from local collectors on the Chinese east coast, particularly in the regions surrounding Shanghai.
“Different waste and residues account for approximately 80% of our renewable raw materials,” added Jiang. “With our own proprietary NEXBTL technology, renewable products can be refined flexibly from a wide variety of low-quality raw materials while the end-products retain their high quality. These products and solutions help our customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.”
Neste currently operates renewable diesel production facilities in Singapore, the Netherlands and Finland, with a capacity of almost 3 million tonnes of renewable diesel and other renewable fuels per year.
The company is carrying out a capacity expansion at its facility in Singapore, which will bring total renewable production capacity to 4.5 million tonnes annually in 2022. Neste’s Shanghai office is registered as a fully-owned subsidiary of Neste, located at Jing’an Kerry Centre in Shanghai.
