Neste Oil starts up fourth renewable diesel plant

Refining and marketing company Neste Oil has completed its fourth renewable diesel plant. Located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the plant is the largest of its kind in Europe.

The plant has an annual production capacity of 800,000 tonnes and this will be ramped up on a phased basis.

The plant brings Neste Oil's overall renewable diesel capacity to 2 million tonnes each year and 'will help us meet demand in the European market, the world's largest for renewable diesel', says Matti Lievonen, president and CEO of Neste Oil.

The plant was completed on-schedule and on budget.

Neste Oil's new plant will convert a variety of vegetable oil and waste fat feedstocks into renewable diesel using its NExBTL technology.

Around 150 permanent jobs have been created from the start-up of this plant.
