EWABA member Argent Energy is demonstrating the immediate potential of waste-based biodiesel through its collaboration with Stagecoach Group Limited.
Throughout 2025, Stagecoach used Argent’s Dieselite higher biodiesel blend across 7,000 buses in 18 regions and more than 100 depots, achieving an annual reduction of 61,261 tonnes of CO₂ compared with fossil diesel.
The initiative shows what higher biodiesel blends can deliver - immediate GHG savings from the existing diesel fleet, using existing vehicles and refuelling infrastructure, while electrification and other longer-term solutions continue to scale.
“The ambition of Stagecoach is to have an EV fleet by 2035. But there’s this bridge we need to build, which is Dieselite and increasing that biofuel percentage,” said Greg Ritt, group head of sustainability at Stagecoach.
