LT Group opens new bioethanol facility in the Philippines

LT Group, owned by the tobacco and airline tycoon Lucio Tan, is set to expand its investment in the renewable energy sector with the opening of a new bioethanol facility in Lian, Philippines.

The 30 million litre capacity plant will be a part of LT Group’s Absolut Distillers (ADI) project.

The ceremony for the opening of the bioethanol facility is expected to be attended by Department of Energy Officer in Charge Zenaida Monsada and officials of the Sugar Regulatory Administration.

In March, an ADI solar-power plant project in the same area was inaugurated.

ADI was established in 1990 under the company Absolut Chemicals, which was engaged in the manufacture of ethyl alcohol and liquefied carbon dioxide as fermentation byproducts used for producing soft drinks, among others.
