APSAC and ISCC partner to strengthen SAF certification and supply chains across Asia-Pacific

The Asia Pacific Sustainable Aviation Centre (APSAC) and ISCC have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support the development of certified sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply chains across the Asia-Pacific region, as demand for sustainable aviation solutions continues to accelerate.
The agreement will focus on advancing SAF sustainability certification, industry education and stakeholder engagement, helping regional stakeholders prepare for the certification of sustainable feedstock pathways and the scaling up of SAF production and adoption.
The MoU was exchanged in Singapore between Philip Goh, Chief Executive Officer of APSAC, and Adam Kirby, Head of Aviation & Maritime at ISCC, on the sidelines of APSAC's Growing Aviation Sustainably training programme.
As one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, Asia-Pacific is expected to see a significant increase in SAF demand over the coming years. Both organisations believe that robust sustainability certification and traceability systems will be essential to building market confidence and ensuring the environmental integrity of SAF supply chains.
Under the three-year agreement, APSAC and ISCC will collaborate on capacity-building activities, including workshops, training programmes and technical exchanges designed to improve understanding of SAF certification requirements.
The partners will also exchange expertise to support policy and regulatory frameworks that enable the growth of certified SAF supply chains throughout the region.
Additional areas of cooperation include joint participation in industry events and stakeholder dialogues, as well as the development of publications, guidance materials, case studies and other educational resources to increase awareness of certification best practices.  "Certification builds the trust that SAF markets need to grow," said Dr Norbert Schmitz, managing director of ISCC. "Asia-Pacific has enormous potential for sustainable feedstocks and SAF production, and we are delighted to work with APSAC to strengthen knowledge and capacity throughout the region."
Philip Goh said the partnership would help stakeholders better prepare for the development of certified SAF supply chains.
He said: "As demand for SAF in Asia Pacific grows, airlines, producers and regulators need assurance that the fuel they buy, supply and regulate is sustainable and traceable. Building understanding of sustainability certification is essential for scaling up SAF supply and adoption.”
