Continental Refining Company has announced a major expansion of its biodiesel operations in Kentucky, with a project underway that will double production capacity at its Somerset facility.
The investment includes construction of a new rail spur connecting the site to the Norfolk Southern network, enabling nationwide distribution of biodiesel products. The company said demand for its renewable fuel products has continued to grow at double-digit rates.
The expansion follows the launch of the firm's higher-blend biodiesel product, P51, and reflects continued investment in domestic biofuel production despite broader challenges facing agricultural processing markets.
