Aeromexico is the latest airline to fly its planes on biofuel. Along with Boeing, the two companies powered a flight from Mexico City to Madrid using a General Electric motor that ran on bio-combustible fuel.

In Hawaii, US, biodiesel company Pacific Biodiesel will deliver its fuel to the new Hawaiian Electric Company-operated 8MW Honolulu International Airport Emergency Power Facility.

Currently under construction in Indian River County, Florida, US, construction on the INEOS New Planet BioEnergy plant is now scheduled to finish 'by this period of time next year' instead of April 2012, according to the company's president David King.
The reason for the delay has been attributed to the time it took to evaluate and hire construction firm AMEC back in 2010.

With a goal to produce 3 billion litres of ethanol in the 2012/2013 crop year, biofuels company ETH Bioenergia of Brazil is looking to expand its sugarcane plantation by 100,000 hectares.

In Pollock, Louisiana, US, a formerly defunct biodiesel plant has reopened.
The plant, which is owned by biodiesel producer Vanguard Synfuels, was officially opened on 8 August, although it began producing biodiesel a couple of weeks prior to this. The opening has created jobs for 25 people.

A $100 million (€70 million) ethanol plant located in Hoke County, North Carolina, US, will be put up for auction on 24 August after Clean Burn Fuels filed for bankruptcy.
