On 31 July, Amyris, partnered with Brazilian airline GOL, completed the aviation industry's first commercial flight with farnesane.
The recently approved renewable jet fuel was used in the duo's first flight, which left Orlando, Florida, on 30 July and flew to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Egypt is looking to invest $250 million (€187 million) in a bioethanol plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Ministry of Petroleum in Egypt has plans to construct a bioethanol plant in UAE that will process 100,000 tonnes of molasses annually.

Philadelphia-based biofuels company, SG Preston, is planning to build a $400 million (€299 million) renewable diesel plant in Ohio, US.

Cathay Pacific Airways has invested in Fulcrum BioEnergy, a US-based sustainable biofuel developer, as part of the airline's biofuels strategy.

In Lagos, Nigeria, biodiesel technology supplier Florida Biodiesel has completed the sale of a biodiesel plant to Avandith Energy in Lagos, Nigeria.

Mahtani Group has partnered with UK-based Sunbird Group to develop a $150 million (€112 million) bioethanol plant in the Luapula Province, Zambia.
