Big River Resources is teaming up with Prairie Gold to build a new facility that extracts corn protein.
The duo, who joined forces last year, will construct a new ethanol facility in Galva, Illinois, using technology to extract zein from corn.
The Illinois-based facility is expected to be completed in May, with production up and running in July.

Brazil will raise the ethanol content of its petrol, with the expectation of creating demand for an additional 1 billion litres of biofuel per year and supply assistance for the Latin American country's sugar mills.
Earlier this year, the country passed a law to raise the required level of sugar-based ethanol in petrol from 25% to 27.5%.

Hawaii's plans to use an abandoned pipe to transport biofuel from ships docked at Hilo Harbour to a nearby storage facility has passed an environmental assessment and is expected to now be approved.
The pipe, which used to be used by Shell Oil, travels under state land.

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has signed a preliminary deal to supply the China Aircraft Leasing Company with 100 fuel-efficient planes.
