GoodFuels and Varo extend partnership to scale biofuels
Dutch renewable fuel producer GoodFuels announced that it has extended its partnership with Varo Energy subsidiary Reinplus Fiwado Bunker to improve access to biofuels for deep sea vessels leaving from Rotterdam.
According to the release, the partnership will see Varo assist GoodFuels with the production, blending and distribution of biofuel oil across the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (AWA) region.
“Due to upcoming IMO spec changes and stricter emission requirements, the demand for alternative shipping fuels is increasing,” said Ben van Kol, managing director of Reinplus Fiwado.
“We are proud to now also provide sustainable biofuels to deep sea clients, alongside our inland shipping customers, through the collaboration between GoodFuels and our parent company VARO Energy.”
Varo and GoodFuels formed the partnership last year, focused on scaling sustainable marine biofuels for the European inland shipping market.
“This collaboration will enable us to rapidly scale and offer one of the most climate-friendly fuel options for shipping to deep sea customers in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region,” said Dirk Kronemeijer, CEO of GoodFuels.
“Decarbonisation makes the adoption of alternative fuel solutions increasingly important and we are confident that this will help to further accelerate the maritime industry’s sustainability drive.”
