Research at the National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan has developed a microwave-based process which transforms waste cooking oils into biodiesel in 10 seconds.

An ethanol biorefinery in Iowa, US is offering retailers grants to install new fuel pumps to dispense a higher blends of ethanol than the current E10 available at many petrol stations.
The biorefinery is offering the $15,000 to five willing retailers which agree to install the blender pumps, capping the total project cost at $75,000.

It has been reported auto manufacturer MAN Latin America has completed tests on diesel made from sugarcane.

The 5,000 tonnes of waste generated in the city of Chennai, India, per day has the potential to be converted to 120 million litres of aviation fuel and 40.5 million litres of diesel per year.

Multi-national company Cargill has begun operating its corn wet mill ethanol plant in Iowa, US.
It purchased the idled facility from global ingredients supplier Tate and Lyle back in 2011. The plant, according to Cargill, will provide the base load corn grind for the campus and will eventually support additional business growth in the future.
