By 2019 it is predicted that the production of ethanol for vehicle fuel will reach 64 billion litres, over double what is currently produced today.
According to energy minister Marcio Zimmerman: ‘Brazil produces 26 billion litres today and will reach 64 billion litres in 2019. With that we will even have a surplus to export.’

On 20 September 2010 TMO Renewables, a developer of a new process for converting biomass into ethanol for transportation fuel, entered into a 20-year exclusive contract with clean tech company Fiberight.
