President Trump calls for year-round sale of E15

President Donald Trump has called for allowing the year-round sale of E15 petroleum, a move supporters say would provide relief to consumers while strengthening America’s agricultural and energy sectors.
E15, a fuel blend containing 15 percent ethanol, is typically restricted during the summer months due to regulatory limits.
The President’s proposal aims to lift those restrictions and make E15 available nationwide throughout the year.
Advocates argue that expanded access to E15 would lower fuel costs at the pump, increase consumer choice, and reduce dependence on foreign oil. Ethanol producers and farm groups say the policy would also boost demand for American-grown corn, supporting rural communities and creating jobs across the Midwest.
“Allowing E15 to be sold year-round is about putting American farmers, refiners, and drivers first,” supporters of the proposal have said.
They note that modern vehicles are already approved to use E15 safely, and that expanded availability could help stabilise fuel supplies during peak driving seasons.
Critics, however, have raised concerns about infrastructure readiness and potential impacts on small refineries, calling for careful implementation and regulatory clarity.
President Trump’s call renews a long-running debate over ethanol policy and signals continued focus on domestic energy production, rural economic growth, and consumer affordability as key national priorities.
