LanzaJet secures first close of equity fundraising
The initial stage of the round has raised approximately $47 million (€40 million) in new capital, with the funding co-led by International Airlines Group (IAG) and Shell, and participation from existing investors Groupe ADP, LanzaTech and Mitsui.
The investment comes as a strong endorsement of LanzaJet’s proprietary alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) technology and its commercial deployment.
Capital will support ongoing operations and expansion of SAF production, notably at LanzaJet’s Freedom Pines Fuels plant in Georgia, the world’s first fully integrated commercial-scale ethanol-to-jet facility.
In addition to the equity raise, the company recently secured a substantial grant from the UK Department for Transport’s Advanced Fuels Fund to advance Project Speedbird, a major SAF biorefinery development in Teesside, United Kingdom.
Combined, this funding provides LanzaJet with significant resources to accelerate growth and commercial rollout.
LanzaJet’s CEO highlighted that the continued backing from major industry partners reflects confidence in the firm’s technology and its role in decarbonising aviation fuel supply chains.
