Egypt invests in bioethanol plant in UAE

Egypt is looking to invest $250 million (€187 million) in a bioethanol plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Ministry of Petroleum in Egypt has plans to construct a bioethanol plant in UAE that will process 100,000 tonnes of molasses annually.

Machinery and other related infrastructure will be installed at the molasses plant, which will also contain a processing unit.

The construction project is set to be complete by the end of 2015.

Egypt is looking to set up two other petrochemical projects in the area. The three projects are expected to cost a total of $540 million.

One of these projects will focus on the production of bioethanol from rice straw and will also process 100,000 tonnes of straw each year.
