Zere awarded grant for ‘near zero emission’ fuel project
US-based clean energy technology provider Zere Energy and Biofuels has been awarded nearly $1 million (€796,000) to demonstrate a ‘near zero emissions’ fuel flexible combined heat and power system.
The money has come from the California Energy Commission and Zere will design and build a system prototype which employs a ‘near zero emissions’ oxidation process. It will run on natural gas and untreated biogases.
The Technikon Renewable Energy Testing Centre near Sacramento will house the project, bringing additional clean energy jobs to the area.
‘This research will advance combined heating and power technology and help the State of California maintain its leadership in clean energy production and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions,’ says California Energy Commission chairman Dr Robert Weisenmiller.
