Web platform reveals crop conditions

Genscape's LandViewer website offers an insight into current corn crop condition and price correlation.

The data, which covers over 1,400 counties, provides information of pricing at a national, state and county level.

Genscape's new LandViewer platform offers dual-level, real-time images of developing variables, which allows growers, traders, and grain buyers to correlate crop conditions with regional pricing information.

'While NASA is publishing satellite vegetation vigour every 16 days, Genscape processes NASA vegetation vigor data daily for a strong indicator of crop progress,' says Dr. Steffen Mueller, senior director for Genscape.

The national, state, and county-level yield forecasts are accompanied by the daily updated LandViewer dashboard, featuring a dual-viewer display, daily corn prices, analytics capability, and 10-year supporting data for weather, soil moisture, and satellite vegetation vigour for each county.

'We are reaching a key time during this year's growing season. Our next national forecast will be released at the end of July, providing critical yield and production information ahead of the USDA report on 12 August,' adds Dr. Mueller.
