US produced 123 million gallons of biodiesel in December

The US Energy Information Administration has released its 'Monthly Biodiesel Production Report', which states that 123 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in the US in December 2014.

Biodiesel production during this period was around 15 million gallons higher than production in November 2014. . Biodiesel production from the Midwest region contributed towards approximately 72% of the US total. Production came from 99 biodiesel plants with a total production capacity of 2.1 billion gallons per year.

Producer sales of biodiesel during December last year included 65 million gallons sold as B100 and an additional 83 million gallons of B100 sold in biodiesel blends with diesel fuel derived from petroleum.

There were a total of 911 million pounds of feedstocks used to produce biodiesel in December 2014. Soyabean oil remained the largest biodiesel feedstock during December 2014 with 531 million pounds consumed.
