Springboard Biodiesel opens new biodiesel production facility
Springboard Biodiesel, a clean-technology manufacturer, launches a fully automated, zero-waste biodiesel production plant in Chico, California, designed for low-cost production of multiple feedstocks.
The model processing facility, which will open on 1 May and is capable of producing up to 1,500 gallons per day, processes locally collected UCO feedstock and converts it into ASTM-grade B-100 biodiesel.
Mark Roberts CEO of Springboard, says: 'Using biodiesel made from UCO will reduce the driver's CO2 emissions by as much as 90%, while simultaneously reducing particulate matter by 50%.'
The California Energy Commission (CEC), the state's primary energy policy and planning agency, awarded a grant through its Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology programme to aid the development of the 'first in the state' small scale biodiesel production facility.
