Riksch plant goes up for auction

International marketing company Maas Companies, based in the US in Rochester, Minnesota, is to auction the Riksch Biofuels plant of Iowa.

Located on 13.76 acres of land, the 9 million gallon-a-year the biodiesel plant will go up for auction on 12 April 2011 at 11am, 3187 320th Street, Crawfordsville.

The plant has been out of action since 2009 when it closed due to the economic crisis, coupled with the high cost of soyabeans.

Interested parties are able to purchase the entire facility, including land and additional buildings, and all of the equipment before the auction, according to the company. Potential buyers need to put forward their bids before 5pm on 22 March, central US time. After this date, parts of the plant will be sold separately at the auction.

Sufficiently equipped, the plant could remain as a biodiesel facility, but also has the potential to be adapted into a fuel/oil distribution and storage facility due to its onsite indoor tank farm.

At the auction, potential buyers will have the ability bid for individual plant real estate and the different equipment and machinery. Equipment buyers can either bid at the site or live online, while those looking to bid for real estate will need to physically attend the event.
