Rentech proposes diesel power plant in California
The plant will provide enough power to supply 30,000 homes, and is expected to be up and running by 2012.
The plant is expected to adhere to the new standards set by the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard, using biomass gasification technology provided by SilvaGas to produce synthesis gas (syngas) from wood-based biomass.
The Rentech Process will take conditioned syngas and in a commercial scale reactor will convert it to finished, ultra-clean products such as synthetic diesel and naphtha using upgraded technologies under an alliance between Rentech and technology provider UOP.
Renewable electric power will be produced at the facility by using conventional high-efficiency gas turbine technology.
