REG opens biodiesel blending terminal

Iowa, US-based biodiesel producer and marketer Renewable Energy Group has opened a new biodiesel blending terminal in Alamosa, Colorado, US.

At the Alamosa terminal REG has partnered with petroleum company and biodiesel marketer Alta Fuels to facilitate the company’s marketing efforts of its branded REG-9000 biodiesel at the site.

Alta Fuels also has an on-site laboratory to ensure quality throughout the biodiesel supply chain.

Blends of B2 to B99 are available by the truckload from the 20,000-gallon tank in Alamosa. This is the second biodiesel terminal opened by REG in the Rocky Mountain Petroleum Administration Defense 4 District (PADD).

In November 2008, the company opened a biodiesel blending terminal in Ogden, Utah.

‘REG currently markets biodiesel to all 48 continental states, and with this and other strategic terminal locations, REG is able to extend our biodiesel product offering,’ Gary Haer, VP of sales and marketing for REG, says.

The RFS calls for 500 million gallons of biodiesel to be used in the US in 2009. REG’s biodiesel blending facility allows petroleum distributors in Colorado, New Mexico and the southeast to make biodiesel blends available now in preparation for implementation of the RFS later this year.
