PTPN X and Nedo plan ethanol plant in Java
In East Java, Indonesia-based PT Perkebunan Nusantara X (PTPN X) and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (Nedo) of Japan, are planning to build an ethanol production plant in Mojokerto.
Costing an estimated $25.5 million (€18 million) to build, the plant is expected to be up and running by early 2012, before commercial operations begin at the end of 2012. The plant will be able to produce 30 million litres a year of ethanol. PTPN X will invest $9.5 million into the project, while Nedo will invest the remaining funds in grant form.
Feedstock handled at the plant will be supplied by the Mojokerto-based Gempolkrep mill.
Around 100,000 tonnes of the total ethanol produced at the facility will be used by PTPN X and Nedo, while the remainder will be sold, both domestically and internationally.
