Operations soon to start at Coshocton Ethanol

Following the closure of the Coshocton Ethanol plant in Ohio, US, back in January 2009, production at the facility is due to commence in Q1 2011.

The plant has a 60 million gallon-a-year production capacity. However following just 10 months in operation it was forced to close as the ethanol market took a downturn. But as Erik Chaffer, the general manager of Altra Biofuels, explains: ‘The market looks good right now, and if those margins can hold we expect there to be a startup.’

The EPA’s recent decision on E15 in 2007+ vehicle models is also expected to increase the demand for ethanol in the region.

The plant’s 40 workers were forced to look for work elsewhere when the plant shut but according to Altra Biofuels, a huge majority of them will be contacted and given the opportunity to have their old job back.
