Nidera earns RSB certification for biodiesel from used cooking oil

Nidera, an agriculture supply company, has earned the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) certification for the production and trading of biofuels from used cooking oil (UCO).

Nidera, based in the Netherlands, operates worldwide as a commodity service and solutions provider for the global agricultural markets and has an active presence in more than 18 countries.

The certification scope includes Nidera's trading operations, and the Biodiesel Aragon plant in Huesca, Spain, where the biodiesel conversion takes place.

Biodiesel Aragon can convert a wide variety of vegetable oils to produce a biodiesel that has the highest level of greenhouse gas savings.

‘We were very pleased to work with RSB to certify UCO biodiesel produced at the Biodiesel Aragon facility,’ said Bert Ooms, Nidera's group communication manager.

‘We are very happy to have a new option available for the certification of sustainable biofuels and waste materials.’

RSB is recognised by non-governmental organisations as the most comprehensive and ambitious biomaterials sustainability certification program in the world.

RSB provides a holistic approach towards sustainability assurance, covering social, environmental, and operational aspects.
