Neste Oil's NexBTL to be trialled at ADAC 24-Hour Race
Neste Oil's NExBTL renewable diesel is to be tested under race conditions for the first time this summer in Germany.
Between 23 and 26 June two teams will compete in the ADAC 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring circuit and run their cars on 100% renewable diesel regenerative. The fuel contains NExBTL renewable diesel and up to 7% conventional FAME biodiesel, both produced from rapeseed oil.
'Numerous different field tests have confirmed the performance of NExBTL renewable diesel and the benefits it offers in terms of lower emissions,' says Kaisa Hietala, Neste Oil's vice president, marketing. 'But this will be the first time that it will be tested under competition conditions. We are very excited that this will take place at the renowned 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring circuit, which has been the showcase for the latest automotive technology for decades.'
Neste Oil's partner in the event is German-based Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants (UFOP). Four Motors and Tuning Akademie are the two competing teams. The Tuning Akademie car will feature an Audi A6 engine and emission control technology, while the Four Motors team will be competing with a 'bioconcept car'.
