Neste, AirBP offer sustainable alternative jet fuel at French airport

Renewable fuels producer Neste has teamed up with AirBP to offer an option to refuel with sustainable aviation fuel at Caen airport in France.

Produced by Neste, the sustainable alternative jet fuel (SAJF) is being supplied to Caen Carpiquet airport by AirBP.

The fuel is produced from non-palm renewable and sustainable raw materials and, according to Neste, will produce up to 80% fewer emissions over its lifecycle than conventional jet fuel.

At AirBP we believe it is important to keep working with multiple suppliers, customers and partners, and using expertise from across the global BP organisation, to support the commercialisation of sustainable aviation fuel.”

Neste is increasing its capacity for renewable jet fuel over the next few years, with plans to produce up to 100,000 tonnes per year in the US and Europe. Following the expansion of a refinery in Singapore, the company will be able to produce up to 1 million tonnes of SAJF by 2022.
