Mozambique to get new ethanol facility by 2014
Brazil-based energy business Petrobras is planning to bring ethanol production online in Mozambique in less than two years.
At a conference in Maputo entitled “Brazil and Africa: Opting for Sustainable Development” the chairman of Pterobras Combustiveis, Miguel Macedo, stated it would construct a distillery by the end of 2013.
‘According to the approved timetable, if that construction meets its deadline, then ethanol production will begin in 2014,’ Macedo adds.
Petrobras will invest $20 million (€15.4 million) into the project which hopes to produce 20 million litres of ethanol a year to the Mozambican market. The company already manufactures sugar in the African nation.
