Missouri biodiesel plant reopens
The $7 million (€5.36 million) facility was acquired in May earlier this year before it began producing at its full capacity of 5.2 million gallons a year in July. Plant manager Jerry McDowell said that the plant manufacturers approximately 14,000 gallons of biofuels each day from animal fat and soyabean oil.
Before the Great River Soy processing plant was shut down it produced around 94,000 gallons of biodiesel.
‘We’re just starting to pick up with our deliveries,’ said McDowell. ‘The plant is averaging two trucks a day picking up the products. We probably have more demand that we can produce. A lot of people want biodiesel and that’s a good thing for ME Bio Energy and the community of Lilbourn.’
