Milligan Bio-Tech proves Canada can count on canola
Canada’s first canola-based biodiesel Milligan Bio-Tech producer opened its 10 million litre-a-year flagship optimisation facility in July in Saskatchewan province, as a first step to ensuring the technology works well enough to upscale to a future 150-million litre a year plant.
Although like everyone else, the plant has suffered delays as a result of the economy and dropping fuel prices, western Canada has not been affected as badly as eastern Canada.
‘Everything is going as expected and we intend to have the optimisation plant operating at full capacity by 2010,’ explains Zenneth Faye, executive manager, and also one of the start-up’s founders. Faye will be presenting the company’s future plans as well as experiences of establishing a biodiesel industry in Canada at the upcoming Biofuels International Canada expo & conference in Montreal on 28-29th October.
Biofuels International Canada expo & conference is organised by market leading publication Biofuels International magazine and is designed to coincide with those mandates taking effect in 2010, which will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the market.
Other key speakers at the event include:
- Rick White, General Manager, Canadian Canola Growers Association
- Alan Gelder, vice president, EMEA downstream consulting, Wood Mackenzie
- Gordon Quaiattini, President, Canadian Renewable Fuels Association
- Jeff Passmore, Executive Vice President, Iogen Corporation
- Vincent Chornet, President and Chief Executive Officer, Enerkem
- Jordan Solomon, President, Ecostrat
- Duane Chung, President and CEO, Centurion Biofuels
- Dan Bulzan, NASA Glenn Research Centre
- Dan Johns, National Lead – Construction, Contracting and Renewable Energy Head Office, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada
and many more!
As an added bonus we will be co-hosting this meeting with Tank Storage Canada expo & conference, an event which is organised by Tank Storage magazine, and focuses on best practices for storage terminals in Canada and the US.
