MDA chooses biofuels project for NextGen Energy funding

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has selected a biofuels project as one of five energy projects to receive NextGen Energy funding totalling $1.69 million (€1.24 million), under the Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation programme.

The Easy Energy Systems will receive a $500,000 grant for building a biofuel production facility capable of testing multiple feedstocks, verifying economic data, and confirming conversion rates.

The project uses up to 25% of biomass feedstocks from local forestry operations, in a bid to replace coal.
