Maple Energy produces 3 million gallons of ethanol this year

Energy company Maple Energy produced almost 3 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol at its Peru-based biofuel plant between 1 January and 31 March this year. This is according to a company update, released by Maple on 11 June.

Almost 160,000 tonnes of sugarcane was harvested and processed for this ethanol. The average ethanol yield during this period was approximately 20.5 gallons per net tonne of sugarcane processed.

Under the company's existing sales and distribution agreement with Mitsui & Co., Maple has sold an aggregate volume of approximately 3 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol to Mitsui as of 31 March 2014. In addition to the sales to Mitsui, Maple sold a total of approximately 0.11 million gallons of ethanol to domestic and regional markets during the same period.

In addition, Maple's ethanol facility produced around 13,162MWh of renewable energy as of the end of March. The company says that the energy required for its agricultural and industrial operations was around 16,218MWh during this period.
