Lignol receives funding from DoE

In late 2008 Canada-based Lignol, a technology firm in the cellulosic ethanol, biochemicals and biorefining sector, signed a $30 million (€21.91 million) agreement with the US Department of Energy (DoE) relating to the construction of a commercial demonstration cellulosic ethanol plant.

Now the agreement has been modified whereby approximately $4 million (previously €1.56 million) has been obligated by the DoE as a contribution in phase one of the agreement.

Of this obligated amount Lignol has received $0.34 million while an additional $1.2 million is currently available to be claimed in respect of expenses incurred to date. The DoE is expected to award Lignol with a further $0.46 million.

The balance of the obligated amount of around $2 million is subject to Lignol achieving certain project development milestones.
