Keystone BioFuels increases operations at new site
Since relocating from Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, US, to Lower Allen Township earlier this year, biodiesel producer Keystone BioFuels is expanding its operations, driven mainly by government mandates.
The company is increasing its workforce by 14 additional staff, expanding its space and increasing production tenfold.
Keystone converts soyabean oil, used cooking oil and animal tallow into biodiesel and is scheduled to commence production at its new site later this month.
The new site in Lower Allen Township includes rail infrastructure that will help Keystone transport its biodiesel product to its customers easier and in less time.
The biodiesel market in the state of Pennsylvania is strong; conventional diesel must be blended with 2% biodiesel. This blending mandate will increase to 5% when production reaches 100 million gallons.
