Jord and Votion partner to produce biodiesel and SAF
This collaboration aims to accelerate the global energy transition and reduce carbon emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as transport, aviation, and chemicals.
Jord specialises in cultivating and commercializing C4-grass biomass and solid biofuels, grown on marginal ordegraded lands in Senegal and the Dominican Republic.
This fast-growing biomass sequesters carbon, regenerates soils, and serves as an ideal feedstock for renewable energy applications.
Votion Biorefineries, founded in 2022, is a Swedish company committed to combating global warming through scalable and feedstock-flexible biorefinery technologies. Votion converts sustainable biomass into advanced biofuels, SAF, renewable chemicals, and valuable by-products like fertilizers and biogas.
“This partnership is a tremendous opportunity to advance innovative solutions in the biofuel industry.
“By integrating Votion’s cutting-edge biorefinery technologies with Jord’s sustainably cultivated biomass, we are establishing a scalable model for impactful energy solutions that address the urgent need for decarbonization. Jord’s cultivation of C4-grass on marginal lands in regions like Latin America and Africa already creates significant climate benefits by improving soil health and capturing atmospheric carbon.
“Together, we will transform this renewable biomass into biocrude, sustainable aviation fuel, and other biochemicals, turning it into a pivotal driver for cleaner energy and reduced emissions across aviation, transportation, and the chemical industry,” stated Anders Edling Hultgren, CEO at Votion Biorefineries.
Peder Dagsánth, CEO at Jord AB, added: “At Jord, we are committed to rebalancing the carbon cycle and fostering sustainable growth in communities where we operate. Partnering with Votion Biorefineries allows us to expand the impact of our C4 grass biomass and take a significant step toward transforming global energy systems.”
