Israeli scientists create water and air-based jet fuel

Israeli scientists have successfully created a water and air-based jet fuel in the laboratory and are now looking to commercialise its method into a consumer product.

Despite its cost, scientists are capable of technically producing hydrocarbons from water and air and at present, Israelis are focusing on finding innovative production techniques. The method concentrates on extracting carbon dioxide molecules from the air and amalgamating them with hydrogen molecules placed in water. This process of extraction is expected to have a positive impact on the effect of greenhouse gas emissions.

‘This fuel could be the 'green' fuel of the future, within 10 or 20 years,’ says the team of scientists.

A scientific feasibility document is expected to be published by the end of this year.
