Internal floating roofs agreement secured

Ergil will provide 16 pontoon type internal floating roofs for Gulf Petrochem's Pipavav Terminal project in Pipavav, Gujarat, India.

The company, which engineers, constructs and manufactures storage tanks for the petroleum and chemical industries, will supply the oil and energy specialists with pontoon type internal floating roofs, which are fully compliant with API 650 standards.

Pontoon type IFR consists of a series of capped hollow tubular pontoons connected to a grid of beams and top-sheet of aluminum tread plate. The design of these roofs allows a vapour space between the floats and the underside of the plate.

StorageTech internal floating roofs reduce the evaporation losses of stored products, such as jet fuels, petrol, diesel, and crude oil, can be offered as aluminum or stainless steel design. Floating roofs can also help to control hydrocarbon emissions and the risk of fire.
