Innovation Fuels to tap intermodal connections at Connecticut port

Innovation Fuels plans to begin biodiesel operations later this month at a New Haven port terminal in Connecticut, US.

The biodiesel producer has announced that intermodal connections in the area will enable the company to position itself as a biodiesel distributor for the region.

The company will receive biodiesel by barge from its production plant in Newark, New Jersey, and ship it by rail via the Providence and Worcester Railroad.

Once fully operational Innovation Fuels expect to move about 1 million gallons of biodiesel per month.

Port of New Haven Executive Director Judi Sheiffele plans to lobby the state to apply for federal stimulus dollars to help the New Haven Port Authority fund the addition of several rail spurs to private terminals.
